Football!

Well, as we all know football season is well underway, and our family is certainly enjoying it. Even Reece! We were watching a game and Reece decided to play right along with the pros! He got into his little 4 point stance, waited for the ball to be hiked and took off, ran around and when the tackling happened, he fell down! So cute! I later found out that he and a few other boys at daycare have been playing football. And he's learned to say the word 'tackle'. What a kid, he won't say Mommy yet, but he'll say tackle.

Talking, kisses and boys!

Well, while Reece may not be talking very much, he has started saying "Love you" with a kiss, when one of us leaves or when I drop him off at daycare. This, of course, melts my heart, and makes me want to stay with him! Another thing he does when we're about to leave, is he'll go around kissing everything! The couch, the dog, the side table... everything. The kid is just full of love.
I've also just realized that he says a lot more than we think, we just don't quite understand some of the things he says. This makes me feel much better about his speech development.
Another silly story, last night while taking a bath, Reece decided to throw all of his tub toys on the floor outside of the tub. And he decided to play with the only "toy" left in the tub, his wee-wee! He's such a boy! Before having kids, I always questioned the nurture v. nature concept. Well, I think my son is proof that, for the most part, boys are just boys!

Big Boy Room!

Reece is completely in his new room now. He's sleeping at night and taking naps in there all on his own. He typically wakes up in a good mood and he's even started playing when there's enough light. We are very lucky he's adjusted so easily, hopefully it continues with the arrival of the new baby!
Last Friday we met up with our friends Sheila and Russel at the Orchard Town Center to play at Little Monkey Bizness. Unfortunately, because two school districts were out that day, the place was packed! We decided to just play at the play area outside since it was such a nice day and then we went to the park. We had a blast and Reece napped for 3 hours! If the weather continues to be so nice, we might try that again this Friday, a 3 hour nap allows Mommy to make some much needed progress on new baby preparation!

Halloween Activities

We had a fun Halloween this year, we went to a birthday party for our friends Carter and Davis, Reece had a party at daycare and we went for a short walk Monday evening! Reece was a dragon and the new baby dressed up as a pumpkin. I don't think Reece quite gets it this year but next year is going to be a blast!

As for other news, Reece has been sleeping in his new room since Saturday night! We decided to go straight to a twin bed and skip the toddler bed stage. We're starting with a twin mattress on the floor (to avoid falls) and we'll work our way to bunk beds. Tonight is the third night and so far things are improving. Saturday night, we "reset" him 4 times, each time he was laying against the door. The final time he was sleeping far enough away for Tyler to squeeze through and put him back in bed. Last night he cried at the door for a few minutes and then went back in the bed on his own. We checked on him before we went to bed and he was halfway on the bed and halfway off and when I woke him up in the morning he was sleeping on the floor. So far, he's slept through the night both times. Tonight he cried for just a few minutes and we'll see where he is soon. Wish us luck!

Wow, Does Time Fly!

Well, it's been quite a while! Halloween is coming up quickly, Reece is almost two and his little brother is on his way!
We've been busy chasing around a busy little boy. Reece is just about 22 months old now and is very active! If he isn't sleeping he either eating or running around. He's right on track with his motor development, but he still isn't saying much. His pediatrician said that it was fine, everything else is on track and he's doing all the things she would expect. She just said he's busy learning other things such as how to get into everything! He definitely understands what we are saying and he can sign some things, probably more than Tyler and I understand. He's a wonderful child that's almost always in a great mood. Now we just have to try to get him ready for a little brother.
On that note, Reece's brother is due on January 8th! Everything is going well and at our last ultrasound, the technician said he is measuring about a week larger than my due date (although it hasn't changed) and she thinks he might come early! Christmas and then two birthdays, maybe Tyler and I should have tried to plan this a little better. We're excited to add to our family and I just can't wait to see the craziness another little boy adds to our household!
