Back to work!

Last week was my first week back at work. I'm returning to work 3 days per week which I really enjoy. I feel like I have lots of time to spend with my boys and I still have a chance to interact with adults! Blake is going to the same daycare that Reece attends which I am so thankful for! I feel so lucky to have found this place because I know that my boys are in excellent hands. I do have to admit, dropping him off for the first time was more emotional than I expected. I did get a little choked up on my way in to work on Tuesday. I'm happy to say that the week went well for all four of us! The boys had a great week at day at daycare, my work week went well and Tyler and I had no problem adjusting to our new schedule.

First "Real" Haircut

After trying to wait patiently for Reece's hair to grow long enough to justify a "real" haircut at a salon (do you call it that when the seats are all cars or trucks and there's a tv in front of each chair?) rather than just a buzz in his high chair. We went to Cool Cutz for Kids, and Reece was very good and his hair looks great! He got to sit in a fire truck chair and watch Dora the whole time. The only time he cried was when it was time to leave and he had to stop playing at the train table in the waiting area.

Not too sure about the cape just yet, but as soon as Dora started rolling, it was quickly forgotten!

Two Month Checkup

Blake had his 2 month checkup on Thursday. Everything was great, his growth chart looked wonderful and our pediatrician said his interaction was closer to a 3-4 month old. He weighs 12 lbs. 13 oz. and is 24" long. He's growing so quickly! He's definitely a very social baby, he loves giving smiles to everyone and enjoys being in the center of the action. Lucky for us, he's even sleeping through the night! I don't want to jinx us, but this is really a wonderful thing!

Reece is also coming right along! He's been talking quite a bit more, he even sings the "A B C" song! He likes to say 'shoes' and 'outside' I would imagine because he really enjoys playing outside. I recently signed us up for a parent-child gymnastics class at our local rec center and I think we'll both have a great time with that.

Unfortunately, a little (or a lot) jealousy has begun to appear. The good thing is that he doesn't show this by acting out towards Blake, he just tries to climb in my or Tyler's lap and get extra whiny when we are giving Blake attention. He does seem to love his brother, he tickles him on his feet and his tummy and he always tries to help put Blake's pacifier in his mouth when Blake gets fussy.

We feel very blessed to have two healthy and happy little boys!

First Family "Vacation"

We took our first trip as a family of four! We went to Louisiana to visit family. We didn't go to the beach or anything very "vacation-y" but we did have a nice fairly relaxing time. We learned that travelling with two children under 3 takes quite a bit of luggage! We had 2 carseats, 2 large suitcases, 1 small suitcase, a backpack, a diaper bag and a small backpack for Reece. Our heaviest suitcase weighed in at 48.5 lbs! That would have to be our only complaint, the kids were very well-behaved while we were travelling. We did make sure to get some new toys for Reece to play with and we loaded our tablet computers with Dora the Explorer (Reece's current favorite show) and plenty of kid-friendly apps.

We had beautiful weather every day we were the except for the day we decided to go to the zoo! It was in the 50's and drizzly while we were there, 70's and sunny every other day. We sucked it up for about two hours and then decided to have lunch someplace indoors. Tyler and I had the opportunity to have dinner together, without kids for the first time in quite a while and I had boiled crawfish 3 nights in a row!

Maw Maw had lots of bonding time with Reece and Blake and even Paw Paw enjoyed the babies. We really had a great time and traveling with the kids really does help build your parenting confidence!
